Embracing the spirit of care and community, we are delighted to announce the weekly distribution of 50 complimentary vegetarian meals to students at our university. In partnership with Rutgers Pantry, this initiative not only addresses student-related food insecurities but also seeks to nourish minds and bodies. As part of our service to the community, beyond fostering peace, harmony, and celebrating festivals, we are extending our efforts to combat food insecurity.
Research indicates that a staggering 30% of college students experience food insecurity, contributing to lower GPAs, increased stress and depression, financial instability, housing insecurities, and more. In alignment with our commitment to giving back, we aim to provide healthy, nutrient-rich, vegan/vegetarian meals to enhance the well-being of our student community.
Inspired by largest NPO of the world, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, our program aims to provide tasty and freshly cooked meals accessible to food-insecure students. By offering these meals free of charge or on a donation basis, we aspire to alleviate the challenges faced by students, promoting improved academic performance and overall well-being.
Join us in this transformative endeavor to create a campus environment where no student goes hungry, fostering a sense of community and support. Our food distribution program will commence every Wednesday distributed by Rutgers Pantry, marking a significant step towards a healthier and more inclusive university experience.
According to USDA, report, more than 37 million people in the United States struggle with hunger & 14.3 million American households were food insecure with limited or uncertain access to enough food. To achieve our vision of a hunger-free America, we must address the root causes of hunger and deepen our understanding of structural and systemic inequities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities and people in need of assistance. IHF collaborates with local communities and colleges to provide needs-based on requirements. Feel free to bring something along with you and drop by our campus.
Trees are like the vacuums of our planet. Through their leaves and bark, they absorb harmful pollutants, filter the water we drink and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Did you ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree! We all benefit greatly from living among more trees. A future with fewer trees is a future less secure for humans. Join us in the effort to make New Jersey greener and fresher.
